Tenure and Promotion Processing System (TAPPS)

Tenure and Promotion Processing System (TAPPS)

Summary

Tenure and Promotion Processing System (TAPPS) is a simple, easy-to-use online application for collecting, processing, and managing faculty tenure and promotion data. Simple interfaces as well as easy-to-use tools for file management, communication, and voting allow a college or an entire university to facilitate and streamline processing of faculty tenure and promotion applications. TAPPS does not prescribe a specific tenure and promotion process; it supports data flow, data management, and communication in relation to tenure and promotion – no matter how unique, simple, or complicated this process is.

Product Functionality

Tenure and Promotion Processing System (TAPPS) is a simple online platform that facilitates tenure and promotion processes and procedures.

Tenure and Promotion Processing System (TAPPS) allows faculty applying for tenure and promotion to submit files comprising their tenure or promotion portfolios in an electronic format. As an application progresses through the review process, TAPPS provides email updates to the applicants.

Tenure and promotion committees at different levels together with other stakeholders can view a tenure or promotion application together with related files on a single page, submit formal recommendations, and vote on assigned tenure and promotion applications. Additionally, the system allows committee reviewers to interact with fellow committee reviewers through comments within the application. The comments will be shared only to the members of

the committee.

Why Use TAPPS?

APPS does not prescribe a specific tenure and promotion process; it supports data flow, data management, and communication in relation to tenure and promotion – no matter how simple, complicated, generic, or unique your tenure and promotion process is.

With TAPPS, your college or the entire university will be able to:

  • Store all tenure and promotion data in one place. This data will be available for multiple years (e.g. in case your tenure and promotion process requires interim evaluations). This data will not be lost if members of the tenure and promotion committee leave.
  • Streamline the process of reviewing tenure and promotion applications through simple, easy to configure steps
  • Allow multiple tenure and promotion committees (e.g. at the department, college, and university levels) and other relevant stakeholders to access and review tenure and promotion applications and related data in one location.
  • Improve objectivity and transparency of the tenure and promotion process through online voting and commenting features.
  • Allow external tenure and promotion committee members to conveniently access and process faculty applications online.
